Baler is a charming town facing the Pacific ocean, blessed with natural spots and teeming with historic buildings that made it standout within the province of Aurora. With little time in our hands, here are the significant places we visited within the vicinity.
1. Aurora Capitol
The seat of provincial government of Aurora.
2. Baler Municipal Hall
This is where municipal offices and mayor's seat are located. The entrance was flanked by monuments of and Jose Rizal (left) and Manuel Quezon (right).
3. Baler Quadricentennial Monument
It was erected last 2011 at the plaza to commemorate the four-hundredth year of the foundation of the town of Baler.
To our surprise, we had a morning pic with honorable Baler Municipal Mayor Nelianto 'Pilot' Bihasa. Our greatest pleasure!
4. Quezon Memorial Park
This park was actually the birthplace of Baler's son, Manuel Luis Quezon.
5. The Replica of Birthplace of Manuel Luis Quezon
A nipa hut where young Manuel used to live.
6. Municipal Museum
Houses the artifacts and memorabilia
7. The Vintage Car used by Pres. Quezon
8. Residence of Former First Lady Aurora Aragon Quezon
9. San Luis de Obispo Church
This church was the site of historic battle between the Spaniards and Filipino freedomfighters.
10. Tromba Marina
This cluster of sculptures depict the scene where some families took refuge on a hill on the night of 1735 as a great storm came and a huge wave called tromba marina devastated the old town settlement, then located in Barrio Sabang. Among the survivors were the Angaras, Bijasas, Bitongs, Lumasacs, Carrascos, and Pobletes who swam toward the nearby Ermita Hill.
11. Diguisit Beach
Rocky islets off coast of Diguisit beach's eastern end.
13. Sabang Beach
The birthplace of Philippine Surfing where tourists flock on its calm waters to enjoy the Pacific vibe. Perfect for surfing beginners, like me.
