Visita Iglesia in Zambales

Zambales province used to include western coastal towns of Pangasinan up to Bolinao. Hence, heritage churches share similarity with the ones in adjacent eastern coastal towns of the latter.

Here is my list of heritage churches visited in the province:

1. Saint Michael the Archangel Parish
The coral stone church of Santa Cruz has a triangular pediment with patron saint’s niche at the center. Interior was heavily renovated. Recent addition is the bell tower at the rear side.

2. Saint Andrew Parish
Located at the Masinloc coastline, this coral stone church was declared as a National Cultural Treasure due to its rare characteristic. Somehow similar to Santa Cruz church’s façade but its bell tower pops out at the right.

 3. Saint Augustine Cathedral
This is the seat of Diocese of Iba covering the parishes within the ecclesiastical province of Zambales. Coral stones were also used as evident in side walls.

4. Saint Monica Parish
The coral stone church of Botolan has a unique façade built in 1700 where the top of pediment has bell tower and 3 bells side-by-side.

5.  Holy Infant of Jesus Parish
San Antonio has relatively new church located near the public market.

6. Saint James Parish
Subic town’s church is tucked a few kilometers away from national highway.

7. Saint Joseph Parish
The flagship church of Olongapo City is located within city proper.

  1. Good morning.
I read your blog, it was helpful since me and my family is planning to held our annual Visita Iglesia in Zambales. May I ask if you have any recommendation on where to stay after the Visita Iglesia? Thank you

    1. Thanks for the reply! Actually I've never stayed for a night within Zambales as I always ride a bus back to Metro Manila where I reside. If I'll recommend, I opt you stay within Subic and Olongapo Area where inns and hotels are located. You can do walk-in at beach resorts along Subic Bay OR use Traveloka, Agoda or Booking.com mobile apps for affordable accommodations.
